Diamond of Dreams

Our professional performance company is honored to perform at this on-field gala organized by Royals Charities.

Our artists will perform aerial and contortion acts on the field at Kauffman Stadium. Radiant Spirals will join them in performing fire spinning.

The annual event features appearances from current and former Royals, a fabulous menu from local restaurants, an exclusive silent auction presented by Teva, a live concert in the outfield by Rachel Platten and a spectacular fireworks show.

Proceeds from Diamond of Dreams will support the building of a Fisher House in Kansas City. The Fisher House program provides a "home away from home" for families of patients receiving medical care at major military and VA medical centers. The homes provide temporary free lodging so families can be close to their loved ones during a medical crisis.

STEALING FIRE

STEALING FIRE

Stealing Fire explores the Greek mythology of Prometheus through aerial and acrobatic arts. It follows Prometheus as she battles titans, creates mankind, and, of course, steals fire from the gods. Other well known legends populate the show, such as Atlas, Hercules, and Pandora as their stories weave together around the protagonist through dynamic aerial dance.

Aside from the obvious addition of aerial silks and trapezes, Stealing Fire modernizes the well-known Greek mythology by ignoring traditional genders. The leading character, Prometheus, is now female along with her sister Epimetheus, while Athena is now the god of wisdom and military victory. Furthermore, Stealing Fire dares to humanize the immortal, as evident in pieces such as “The Weight of the World” where Atlas struggles to accept her entrapment and “Prometheus & Io” where two victims of Zeus’s anger find solace in an exchange of mournful tales. Hercules is arrogant, Hope is fearful, Prometheus is sympathetic. The story outline is the same, but the characters are more complex.

Stealing Fire promises to leave its audience thunderstruck and ablaze with excitement.

Tickets are available at the Union Station Box Office. https://boxoffice.unionstation.org/shows/stealing%20fire/events

Tickets are $20 for advanced general admission, $25 for at-the-door general admission and $10 for children 7 & under.

Beginner Straps w/ Aaron Koz

This workshop will focus on the fundamental techniques for safe and effective training of aerial straps, though most exercises will greatly increase your power and control on other apparatus. We will warm up our shoulders and core using a set of exercises designed to pre-habilitate and strengthen the shoulders. The fundamental skills students will cover are static positions (meathook, inverted straddle, nutcracker, croc, support, flag, and side balance). The end of the workshop will focus on 2 and 1-arm spinning using the dynamic technique of flares to invert to different positions.

This workshop will be beneficial for first timers and aerial artists who work on other apparatus.

Prerequisites: 2 arm inversions of any kind (straddle-up, tuck-up, pike-up) 1-arm hangs with engaged shoulder for 15 seconds, and 30 second wall handstand or 1-minute plank.

Under the Bed

UNDER THE BED is a deep dive into a girl's imagination. In Monster Land, spiders climb ropes, contortionists skitter, and the royal family spins on trapezes. The world is guarded by etherial wisps who charm the child and menace her mother. It's difficult to imagine a reason to return home...

Crazy costumes, innovative movement, and the right amount of scary allow the amazing aerial performances to tell a story for all ages. The company members range in age from 10 to 50+ and this story was created to entertain and speak to old and young alike. A variety of aerial apparatuses will be used for the production, as well as ground acts. Pieces range from group numbers to solos, with aerial choreography done by Lucia Aerial’s staff Ariana Ferber-Carter, Liv Morrow, Elena Sherman, Georgeanna Layton, Kelsey Aicher, and Samantha Davis.

For this production, Lucia will be collaborating Crescendo Conservatory and Stone Lion Puppet Theatre. Crescendo Conservatory, a dance studio located in Overland Park, will be adding two dance numbers to the show, by choreographer Bryant Williams.
