Why Families Love Our Youth Aerial & Circus Programs

How Aerial Compares to Gymnastics, Dance, and Other Kids Activities

Many families first find aerial arts while searching for “gymnastics near me” or “aerial gymnastics.” If your child enjoys movement, creativity, or team sports, aerial can be a perfect fit.

🤸Gymnastics

  • Aerial silks builds similar strength, flexibility, body control.
  • Less competition pressure; more creative freedom.
  • Kids still climb, hang, invert—and progress at their own pace.

🩰Dance

  • Complements dance—improves flexibility & core strength.
  • Helps with control, lines, and balance.
  • Great cross‑training for performers.

🎒Other After‑School Activities

  • Creative, screen‑free movement.
  • Social & supportive class environment.
  • Builds confidence, focus, endurance.

Have Questions? We’ve Got Answers!

Here are some frequently asked questions for parents who are interested in enrolling their child or teen at Kansas City Aerial Arts. For more information, visit our full FAQ and Policies page.

Absolutely! Aerial training is designed to be inclusive and supportive for all skill levels. As long as your child or teen is open to trying new things, our coaches will guide them every step of the way. We also offer modifications to ensure students feel safe, confident, and successful at their own pace.

We recommend comfortable, form-fitting clothing that allows for full movement in aerial silks or circus classes. Tights or leggings that cover the backs of the knees are ideal. Please avoid zippers, buttons, or jewelry that could snag equipment. A fitted shirt with sleeves is best for safety and comfort—especially during skills that involve spinning or inversions.

Our classes run in six-week sessions, with registration opening about two weeks before each session begins. Most classes follow a progressive format, so it’s best to join near the start. If you’re unsure when to begin, contact us—we’re happy to help guide you.
