Zoe Spangler
Technical Director
Zoe M. Spangler is a theatre artist born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri. She earned a B.A. at William Jewell College and a M.F.A. at University of Missouri-Kansas City. During that time, Zoe studied stage lighting design and technology for theatre, opera, dance, and concert. In 2022, she earned a Graduate Assistance Grant from the UMKC Women’s Council to share her design portfolio at the Hemsley Lighting Design Portfolio Review and National Design Portfolio Review in New York City. Since beginning her post-grad career, Zoe designs lighting locally with Kansas City theatre companies–most notably Kansas City Actors Theatre, Unicorn Theatre, Music Theatre Heritage, and Heart of America Shakespeare Festival. In all projects, she brings a sense of humor, collaborative problem solving, creative thinking, and compassionate interpersonal communication to the team. She teaches lighting design fundamentals at Johnson County Community College and mentors young theatre professionals as they transition to the workforce. While her passion lies within supporting the performing arts, she also enjoys games, kittens, and bowls of fruit with whipped cream.
