KC Aerial Arts has been teaching aerial circus skills classes since 2013, located in Town Center Plaza, of Leawood, KS.  

We are looking for circus skills class instructors primarily for aerial skills classes.  Classes will be assigned based on discipline, ability level and ability to teach age group.  Possible classes include Beginner Aerial (Ages 13+), Pre-teen (Ages 7-12), Silks, Lyra, Trapeze, Rope and Sling.

You will be responsible for helping to create a fun and safe learning environment where students will learn circus skills.

Start Date: Immediate

Compensation: $35 / class

Schedule

  • Part-time
  • Weekly 60-90 minute classes as assigned OR substitute for assigned instructors.
  • Minimum of two classes per 6 week session.

Qualifications

  • 1+ years experience teaching circus skills to students (or related activity)
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills with students and team members
  • Education Instruction or childcare experience is a plus, but not required

Assistant Instructor for Outreach Programming


Kansas City Aerial Arts has been teaching aerial and fitness classes since 2013, located in Town Center Plaza, of Leawood, KS.  We offer a unique and fun experience in a circus-like atmosphere. 

We are looking for assistant instructors to assist lead instructors with delivering curriculum and classroom management.

You will be responsible for helping to create a fun and safe learning environment where students will learn early/first lesson ground circus skills.

Start Date: Summer 2024

Compensation: Minimum $20 / hour (based on previous education experience)

Schedule

  • Part-time
  • Camp programs: 3 hours per day for one week, every other month.
  • Weekly programs: 9:30a-Noon on Fridays for 7 weeks.
  • Minimum of one program per every other month. 

Qualifications

  • 3+ years experience teaching/coaching skills to participants/students in an education, arts or organized sports environment
  • Experience in a movement based activity in a classroom setting (ex: dance, gymnastics, juggling, circus, yoga, etc.)
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills with students and team members
  • Education Instruction or childcare experience is a plus, but not required

Technical Crew

Qualifications

  • Required
    • 3+ months technical theatre experience
    • ability to work as a team with fellow crew members, performers, directors, managers, etc.
    • ability to clearly communicate on job sites with crew members, performers, directors, managers, etc.
    • ability to execute cues for technical theatre operations during a performance from memory
    • ability to maintain focus in high stress environments
    • ability to follow directions given by directors and managers.
    • ability to lift 50lbs+
  • Preferred
    • 3+ years technical theatre experience

Technical Director


Kansas City Aerial Arts has been teaching aerial and fitness classes since 2013, located in Town Center Plaza, of Leawood, KS.  We offer a unique and fun experience in a circus-like atmosphere. 

KC Aerial Arts performs throughout the year at events for hire as well as mounting theatrical productions in the early Summer and December.  Events for hire range from outdoor community festivals to indoor signature entertainment at galas.  Approximately 35+ performance dates per year depending on bookings.

We are looking for technical directors to facilitate and supervise the technical operations of the performances.

You will be responsible for helping to create a safe environment for all team members involved in shows.

Start Date: Immediate

Compensation: Minimum $20 / hour (based on previous education experience)

Qualifications

  • Required
    • 2+ years experience in a management/crew lead role in technical theatre production
    • Excellent interpersonal communication skills with team members
  • Preferred
    • Undergraduate degree in technical theatre production or equivalent education
    • 2+ years experience in rigging circus performers / acrobats
    • Leadership and/or management training program completion
    • Technical theatre experience with circus performers / acrobats
    • 10+ years experience in technical theatre production
    • 3+ years experience in theatrical rigging
